All-purpose Barbecue Rub

This all-purpose barbecue rub will work for almost any type of barbecue, and is especially great on barbecued beef. Experiment with it as much as you like: If you prefer it hot, use more mustard or cayenne pepper. If you prefer it mild (or milder), adjust accordingly.

INGREDIENTS:      

  • ¼ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup sweet paprika
  • 3 tablespoons black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon celery salt
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

PREPARATION:

  1. Mix all of the ingredients well.

Store the barbecue rub in an airtight food saver container such as a canning jar or a ziplock storage bag until required.
