Grandma's basic French toast recipe

This is the recipe my grandmother would use to wake us on weekend mornings, and the recipe she taught me. For me, it was the perfect a 'how to make French toast' recipe, and produces fantastic results. Why not give it a try?

Just follow the easy 'how to make French toast'
instructions below for excellent results:

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS:

bullet 4 eggs
bullet 2 teaspoons sugar, divided
bullet 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
bullet 1 teaspoon salt
bullet 1 cup milk
bullet 8 slices white bread
bullet 2 tablespoons butter

PREPARATION:

bullet Break eggs into a wide, shallow bowl and beat lightly with a fork.
bullet Stir in 1 teaspoon sugar, salt, and milk.
bullet Soak the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl or plate, letting slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side.
bullet Over medium-low heat, heat griddle or skillet coated with a thin layer of butter.
bullet Cook the soaked slices, one at a time, about 2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
bullet Remove from heat to serving dish
bullet Mix remaining teaspoon sugar with teaspoon cinnamon, sprinkle over French toast slices and serve.
