Grandma's basic French toast recipe
This
is the recipe my grandmother would use to wake
us on weekend mornings, and the recipe she taught
me. For me, it was the perfect a 'how to make
French toast' recipe, and produces fantastic results.

Just
follow the easy 'how to make French
toast'
instructions below for excellent results:

Serves

INGREDIENTS:

4
eggs |
 |
2
teaspoons sugar, divided |
 |
1
teaspoon ground cinnamon |
 |
1
teaspoon salt |
 |
1
cup milk |
 |
8
slices white bread |
 |
2
tablespoons butter |
PREPARATION:
 |
Break
eggs into a wide, shallow
bowl and beat lightly with
a fork. |
 |
Stir
in 1 teaspoon sugar, salt,
and milk. |
 |
Soak
the bread slices, one at
a time, into the bowl or
plate, letting slices soak
up egg mixture for a few
seconds, then carefully
turn to coat the other side.

Over
medium-low heat, heat griddle
or skillet coated with a
thin layer of butter. |
 |
Cook
the soaked slices, one at
a time, about 2 minutes
per side, until golden brown.

Remove
from heat to serving dish |
 |
Mix
remaining teaspoon sugar
with teaspoon cinnamon,
sprinkle over French toast
slices and serve. |
