Classic barbecue sauce

This tomato-based barbecue sauce renders a delicious, rich sauce which is simply great on ribs. This recipe makes between 1 and 1/12 cups of sauce. Prepare a couple of days beforehand and store in the refrigerator to get all the flavors in delicious harmony.

Classic barbecue sauce

INGREDIENTS:
bullet 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
bullet 1 6-ounce can tomato paste
bullet 2 tablespoons brown sugar
bullet 2 tablespoons vinegar
bullet 2 tablespoons olive oil
bullet 3 cloves garlic, crushed
bullet 1/2 cup onion, thinly sliced
bullet 1/2 cup onion, thinly sliced
bullet 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
bullet 1 teaspoon dry mustard
bullet 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
bullet Coarsely ground black pepper, to taste
   
PREPARATION:
bullet Heat olive oil in medium pan.
bullet Add onion and garlic, saute on medium high heat until onion is soft and transparent.
bullet Add remaining ingredients, mix thoroughly and allow to simmer for about 20 minutes.
bullet Store the sauce in an airtight food saver container such as a canning jar or a ziplock storage bag until required.
