Entrance Fee: Free
Duration: The contest begins on Friday, 30 April and ends at midnight on Sunday, 4 July 2010. All recipes must be submitted via the recipe submission form on our website. Winner’s names will be posted on the outdoor-cooking.com website by 31st July 2010.
How to Submit a Recipe: Type (or copy/paste) your recipe and the other required details into the form. If you include an anecdote or story about the recipe, how you came by it or what it means to your family (250 words or less), enter that into the recipe box as well, above the recipe. As only a single picture can be submitted at a time, you can send additional pictures either by submitting additional blank forms with the picture (using the same recipe title) or by mailing your pictures to email@example.com, with the recipe title in the ‘subject’ line.
All recipes, stories and pictures must be original (i.e. your own property, not previously copyrighted by anyone else). Recipes from other sites (unless you own the site) will not be considered. Only suitable recipes will be considered. All photos submitted must relate to the recipe. If there are people in the picture, you must have their permission to publish the photos.
Recipes must include the number of servings obtained. They should be submitted in standard recipe format, and use standard measurements. Ingredients and quantities should preferably be listed in order of use and include complete and easy to follow step-by-step preparation and cooking instructions, cooking times and cooking temperatures. If you add an anecdote or story, please place it above the recipe.
All fields on the recipe submission form must be completed. You are advised to include your email address so we can contact you if you win a prize. We guarantee the address will not be transferred to any third party.
Only suitable recipes will be considered. Submission does not automatically mean your recipe will enter the contest. Outdoor-cooking.com assumes no responsibility for entries that cannot be processed for any technical problems.
Judging: The winner will be determined based on the points obtained on submission of the recipe and the number of votes and comments submitted by visitors. In the event of a tie, the judges will decide the winners. Judges decisions are final.
Please Note: We permit only one IP address per comment/vote, per recipe. Duplicate IP addresses will be deleted and not counted as a vote.
Scoring: Each recipe accepted will automatically be awarded 5 points.
Pictures get you extra points: The first picture gets you 15 points, and additional pictures will be awarded 20 points each. Please do not submit more than 3 pictures. If you submit more than 3, we will choose those we think are best suited to the contest. We suggest you include a caption or brief description of each picture.
Recipe stories get you extra points: If you have an anecdote or story relating to the recipe, include it along with your recipe for a bonus of 40 points.
The submitted recipes will be published on the site and will be rated by site visitors. A star rating method is used, with a rating of one to five. Maximum rating by a visitor is five points. This system is purposely biased in favor of participants who send in additional information with their recipes. In theory, one recipe, 3 pictures and an anecdote will rate you 100 points, as follows:
- 5 points for the original recipe
- 15 points for the first picture
- 40 points for an additional two pictures (20 each)
- 40 points for an anecdote
Maximum recipe submission total: 100 points, and up to five additional points for each visitor rating.
Prizes: First 10 entries accepted get our GRILLMASTER cooking apron, regardless of points at submission or final standing.
- 1st place: $250
- 2nd place: $100
- 3rd place: $50
Don’t forget to include your contact information so we can notify you of your win. Just enter the information in the notification box at the bottom of the recipe upload page.
