Firehouse Baked Beans

2 lb dark brown sugar
18 oz barbeque sauce
1 small onion minced finely
4 oz bacon bits
In 6 qt dutch oven combine first 4 ingredients and cook 4 hrs over fire.
each hour do the following, remove excess juice (before stirring)
stir. Before serving add bacon bits.
