Peppered Steak with Barbecue Sauce

The solid pepper taste is what makes this delicious peppered steak recipe so great. The sauce uses simple, everyday ingredients, and you can whip up a great meal in no time at all!

Peppered Steak with Barbecue Sauce

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS

For the steak:

bullet56 4 rump steaks
bullet56 4 tablespoons olive oil
bullet56 2 tablespoons freshly gtound black pepper (or to taste)
bullet56 2 tablespoons coarse salt (or to taste)

For the sauce:

bullet56 150 ml (1/4 pint) tomato sauce
bullet56 2 tablespoons soft brown sugar
bullet56 2 tablespoons soy sauce
bullet56 1 tablespoon vinegar
bullet56 25 g (1 oz) butter
bullet56 1 tablespoon oil
bullet56 ½ cup fresh chopped parsley

PREPARATION:
Steaks:

bullet Brush the olive oil on both sides of the steaks, and rub on the pepper.
bullet Grill the steaks to preferred degree
bullet Sprinkle the desired amount of coarse salt on the steaks
bullet Transfer the steaks to a serving dish and keep warm while making the sauce.

Sauce:

bullet Combine tomato sauce, sugar, soy sauce and vinegar in a measuring
jug and make up to 300ml (1/2 pint) with cold water.
bullet Add the sauce to a frying pan. Bring to the boil, stirring.
bullet Pour a little of the sauce over the steaks and garnish with a sprinkling of Parsley.
bullet Serve remaining sauce separately
